Eleven Blocks South of the Brookside Shopping District: Big Chiefs Kush Waldo

Brookside to Waldo, Same Street Grid

Brookside and Waldo are next-door neighbors. They share Gregory Boulevard as their border. Brookside runs from 55th to Gregory, Waldo runs from Gregory to 85th. Both were laid out as part of the J.C. Nichols Country Club District in the early 20th century, which is why the street grid and the architectural rhythm feel continuous when you walk south from the Brookside Shopping District into Waldo.

From the Brookside Shopping District at 63rd and Brookside Boulevard, our shop at 218 W. 74th is 11 blocks south. The route is straightforward: Wornall Road runs the whole length of both neighborhoods, and our address is on 74th just off Wornall. Walking the 11 blocks takes about 25 minutes at a steady pace. Driving is roughly 5 minutes outside of rush hour.

Down the Trolley Track Trail

The Harry Wiggins Trolley Track Trail runs through both Brookside and Waldo. The trail follows the route of the old Country Club streetcar line, which carried passengers from the Plaza south through Brookside to Waldo until service ended in 1957. The streetcar is gone but the route is preserved as a 6-mile trail that runs from Volker Boulevard near the Plaza to 85th and Prospect.

The trail crosses Wornall at 74th, which is our intersection.

From the Brookside Shopping District at 63rd, you can pick up the trail and ride south. The trail has one notable interruption between Meyer Boulevard and 62nd Terrace that isn’t well-marked; first-timers sometimes lose the path here. South of that point, the trail runs continuously through Brookside into Waldo and arrives at our front door.

For Brookside residents who bike or walk as part of daily life, the trail is the easiest way to get to us. Lock up outside, walk in. Most days, we have customers who came down on bikes or on foot.

The Saturday Farmers Market Detour

The Brookside Farmers Market runs Saturday mornings during the growing season in the Brookside Shopping District. It’s one of the best farmers markets in the city and it pulls Brookside residents out for a morning walk or bike ride.

If you’re heading home from the Market with produce, our shop is 11 blocks south on the same route. Saturday mornings and afternoons are not our busiest hours; you can usually walk in without a wait. Cyclists from the Market who continue south on the Trolley Track Trail end up at our intersection naturally.

We’re open daily from 10am to midnight, so any Saturday Market timing works. 21+ only, walk-ins only.

Hemp-Derived vs. Licensed: What We Sell

There is no licensed Missouri marijuana dispensary inside Brookside. The boundaries (55th to Gregory, Ward Parkway to Troost) don’t contain one. The closest licensed Missouri marijuana dispensary to Brookside is From The Earth at 6200 Troost Avenue, just outside the eastern edge of the neighborhood.

Big Chiefs Kush is a hemp-derived cannabis shop, regulated under federal hemp law. We sell hemp-derived flower, pre-rolls, vapes, concentrates, and edibles. Different regulatory category from a licensed Missouri marijuana dispensary.

If you specifically want licensed Missouri marijuana products, From The Earth Troost is your closest option. If you want hemp-derived cannabis, we’re 11 blocks south of the Brookside Shopping District in Waldo. Both serve customers 21 and over.

What We Carry
