After Westport: Big Chiefs Kush is the Late-Night Hemp-Derived Shop North on Southwest Trafficway
The 10-Minute Drive North
Westport sits at Broadway and Westport Road in midtown. From there, Southwest Trafficway runs straight north into the Crossroads Arts District. Our Crossroads location at 527 Southwest Blvd is about 10 minutes up the road outside of peak traffic. Southwest Trafficway is engineered to keep through traffic moving; left turns are blocked at almost every intersection, which sounds frustrating but actually makes the northbound run quick.
You can also take Main Street up through midtown, which is slower but more scenic if you’re not in a hurry. Either route lands you in the Crossroads, and our shop is on the western edge near the I-35 boundary. A rideshare from Westport Road to 527 Southwest Blvd typically runs 8 to 12 minutes depending on traffic and time of night.
Westport is also right next to KU Medical Center to the west and just north of the Country Club Plaza, so a lot of our Westport customers are coming from somewhere adjacent rather than from Westport Road itself. The trip up Southwest Trafficway is the same regardless of which part of midtown you start in.
Open After Westport Bars Close
This is the part that matters. Westport’s identity is nightlife. The bars on Westport Road and around Broadway run until 1:30am most weekend nights. The licensed Missouri marijuana dispensary inside Westport, The Forest at 706 Westport Road, closes at 10pm Monday through Saturday and 7pm on Sundays. After 10pm, there is no dispensary open inside Westport itself.
Big Chiefs Kush Crossroads is open until 1am Monday through Thursday, 3am Friday and Saturday, and 1am on Sundays. We’re typically open through and past Westport’s last call.
If you’re closing out a night at one of the Westport bars, we’re a 10-minute drive or a short rideshare north. We’ll still be open. Walk-ins only, valid 21+ ID required for entry.
Hemp-Derived vs. Licensed: What We Actually Sell
Big Chiefs Kush is a hemp-derived cannabis shop. We sell hemp-derived flower, pre-rolls, vapes, concentrates, and edibles under federal hemp law. We are not a licensed Missouri marijuana dispensary.
The Forest at 706 Westport Road is a licensed Missouri marijuana dispensary. They operate under the state’s marijuana framework and carry licensed Missouri marijuana products.
These are two different regulatory categories with different products and different rules. They are not interchangeable. Some customers want one, some want the other, and a lot of customers don’t realize there’s a difference until they’re inside a shop and the staff explains it.

Visiting From Westport
From Westport Road, take Southwest Trafficway north. It connects directly into the Crossroads Arts District. The drive is roughly 10 minutes outside of rush hour traffic. Our Crossroads location is at 527 Southwest Blvd, on the western edge of the district. Look for the storefront facing the boulevard.
If you’re rideshare-only, the trip typically runs 8 to 12 minutes. Late-night surge pricing can make it more expensive after midnight, especially on weekends. The KC Streetcar doesn’t run into Westport, so the Streetcar isn’t a workable option from this neighborhood.
Both Crossroads location parking and walk-up access are straightforward late at night. On-street parking is easier after 10pm than it is during First Friday or the dinner hours.
