More Than a Cannabis Store
Big Chiefs Kush is a Kansas City cannabis retailer built around one simple idea: people deserve to know exactly what they’re buying. We opened our doors to give the city a different kind of shop. One where the products are premium, the staff actually knows what’s on the shelf, and customers leave feeling respected instead of rushed.

Where We Started
The owners behind Big Chiefs Kush have spent more than 15 years working in the cannabis industry. That experience covers everything from cultivation and product sourcing to retail operations and customer education. By the time we opened our first shop, we’d seen the good, the bad, and the bulk-bin shelves of nearly every type of operation out there.
What we kept noticing was the gap. Customers were paying premium prices for product that wasn’t premium. Staff at most shops couldn’t answer basic questions. The whole experience felt transactional. Get them in, get them out, move on. We didn’t want to add another shop to that pile. We wanted to build something different.
So that’s what we did. Big Chiefs Kush was designed from day one to feel more like a curated boutique than a high-volume retailer. We carry premium and exotic flower only, with no bulk, no filler, no shelf padding. We hire people who care about cannabis and care about people. And we built two shops that each reflect the personality of their neighborhood.
Two Kansas City Locations, One Standard
Both shops carry the same product categories, the same flower tiers, and the same standards for what makes it onto our shelves. What changes is the neighborhood, the building, and the regulars.

Our Waldo shop at 218 W. 74th St covers the south side of the city. The exterior carries a bold graffiti-style mural that’s become a small landmark on its own. Inside, it’s the same warm, gallery-style feel as Crossroads, just tuned for the Waldo crowd. We pull customers from Brookside, Waldo proper, the Plaza, and the wider south KC area, plus regulars who cross over from the Kansas side.

Our shop at 527 Southwest Blvd sits in the heart of the Crossroads Arts District, one of the most-walked stretches of Kansas City. The interior matches the neighborhood: exposed brick, warm amber lighting, dark wood beams, and rotating murals that change with the season. First Fridays bring foot traffic from the gallery walks. The rest of the week, it’s regulars from downtown, River Market, and the Plaza making the short drive over.
What Products Does Big Chiefs Kush Carry?
Our flower comes in three tiers (Rare, Exotic, and Ultra). Each tier is curated by hand. Customers can see and smell every option before they buy, which is something most shops don’t offer and most customers don’t expect. Pre-rolls follow the same standard. Vapes and cartridges are sourced from brands we’ve personally tested.
Inventory rotates roughly every two weeks. New strains come in, older stock cycles out, and the menu stays fresh. That’s also why we don’t post a full product list online. By the time you read it, half of it would be wrong. We’d rather you walk in, talk to someone, and pick something you actually like.

Flower is our bread and butter. We carry exotic and premium strains that rotate roughly every two weeks, so there’s always something new to try. Our team selects each strain based on quality, potency, and how it smokes — not just what’s cheapest to stock. One of our owners has a son on the autism spectrum. That experience shaped how we built the customer experience here: quieter spaces when needed, patient explanations, sensory-aware lighting, and a team trained to read the room. We support autism awareness as a business, and we work to make our shops a place where individuals and families on the spectrum, and the people who love them, feel comfortable walking in.
